Hi guys,
Perhaps I'm being paranoid with the latest credit crunch stuff, but does anyone know if there any source of rating for the saftey of NZ banks?
Does anyone have any recommendations? I've heard ASB are good?
Thoughts welcome!

BNZ have more cash deposited with the Reserve Bank than they legally have to have.
There is no deposit insurance (unlike the FDIC in the States) in New Zealand, which has led to banks tending to being a lot stricter on risk management. (see here for the RBNZ's response, not read it myself)
Take a look at the RBNZ overview of NZ banks and also the banking system oversight page.
Thanks v much for your quick responses!
