Interesting table, I guess they forgot to include a category "do you want to enjoy your life there".

In top four both Switzerland and Germany, the dullest places on earth.. A lawyer friend moved to Switzerland and even he decided to leave after a few years.

France is the first place I would want to live, then Germany.

I'd love to live in France! Was put off by language barrier (I'm lazy) and the school system (shudder). Think of the cheese ...

These 'tables' are all well and good, but fail to take into account the individual aspects of it. Clearly the inability to converse with anyone in France or Germany would be a bit of a problem in respect to my ability to get a job and therefore my personal 'affordability / cost of living' would be very different ;-)

Equally, the ranking between the indicators is a persoal thing, where to some healthcare is going to be more important than say culture. Equally one persons definition of culture is very different to another.

One interesting issue is that the Cost of Living in NZ is ranked as being better than the US and significantly better than the UK, yet that isn't the same story as we see listed on here.

And finally, the scores are very very close at the top of the table. If you see how they score then they admit the bias, and so that means the ranking is well inside their own measure of variability / accuracy.

How can they claim it's possible to reduce meaningfully a whole country's life-experience to one package? I bet all of us can easily think of at least ten vastly different ways of life/places to live within our own country, and we'd be protesting if some foreigner had seen just a couple of those and pronounced on the whole country on that basis.
