Question Golf - Marlborough & beyond - suggestions

can any forumite golfers recommend decent golf courses in Marlborough & the rest of the South Island? My parents are hoping to get over for a visit later this year & have been enquiring about the access to golf courses (apparently they won't survive 4 weeks without a golf 'fix'!eyes: ). I've looked online but haven't a clue what to look at/for other than prices.

They will need to hire clubs while they are here so is there a cheap way of doing this for the duration of their stay, especially as they will need two sets of clubs (1 left handed / 1 right handed set)?

    Thanks

I've not played much golf in Marlborough but I can reccomend a few places further south:

    Christchurch:
    Shirley - http://www.christchurchgolf.co.nz
    Russley - http://
    www.russleygolfclub.co.nz

    Queenstown:
    Millbrook - www.millbrook.co.nz
    Arrowtown GC - www.arrowtowngolf.co.nz
Kelvin Heights (this one is a must) - www.queenstowngolf.co.nz

Also Wanaka has a nice golf course.

Or for a original New Zealand golf experience try Tarras GC - www.tarrasgolf.org.nz - watch out for sheep on the fairways. Not sure if you can hire gear there though.

We played 8 times in 16 days here on Honeymoon in 2006 and were made very welcome everywhere

We hired clubs at every course and at Westport we actually borrowed the green keeeper's daughter's clubs After 3 holes we spotted him driving out to us in his holden and then took away the driver as his daughter was back in town and wanted to hit some balls, he replaced it with his.

If they're down in Canterbury and want to make up a 4 ball we'd be delighted ,give us plenty of notice and I'll book work accordingly

There is also a booklet you can buy which will give you discounts at many courses
