Smile Looking for rental in Mt Roskill, Mt Eden, Mt Albert (Auckland) area

    Dear All,
I'm looking for a 2 bedroom furnished unit in and around Mt Roskill, Mt Eden or Mt Albert, basically to be close to Grammer/school zone. We are looking at an initial contract for 3 months (and roll over subsequent months) starting mid-February.

    Cheers,
    Suniel

Usually furnished rentals in the city tends to be apartments. You probably can negotiate a short term contract on them. Crockers is one of those big rental management firms you can look into. Trademe is another avenue for checking.

I know very few units or houses are furnished and usually snapped up quickly unless they are dumps. The grammar zones you are looking at; do you have anything more specific in mind? It is quite a big area to cover.

Are you after the Mt Roskill zone or Mt Albert or Auckland zone? Because in a way, it will determine where you'll end up and what kind of rent you are looking to pay. The Auckland Grammar Zone is the most prestigious that I've mentioned and people who are aiming for that usually look at Epsom, Remuera and parts of Mt Eden.

    Hi,

I heard from a friend that you can find furnished apartment in New Market (don't know exactly the address but something near countdown).

Also there is a complex in Dryden Place (off Marua Road in Mt Wellington). They provide only whiteware.

Hope I provide you useful info.

Thanks Batgirl and Ali Ismail for the valuable suggestions & very helpful pointers.

Batgirl, my first preference is Epsom & Mt Roskill. Initially my OH and daughter will be staying there, hence I'm looking for something more convenient for them (about $350 per week). I'm planning to move there by about Aug/Sep after winding up my work here.

Alternatively, I have been pondering on the thought of settling them in Nelson or Christchurch while I work here in UK and slowly plan the transition. I know it sounds quite random but my first preference would be to look for an accomodation in Auckland.

    Cheers,

If you are looking for furnished apartments in Epsom, Newmarket, Mt Eden, Remuera it shouldn't be a problem. For furnished units/houses though it would be more trouble than worth especially if you are in a hurry.

You could consider renting furniture, whiteware or buying 2nd hand if you are looking in getting a unit/house for rent. Most landlords now are looking for long term tenancies though 6 months and more.

Due to the tax change laws you are also probably looking at paying more rent- than what you mention as a budget. Rents are set to rise in anticipation of changes. Our landlord raise our weekly rent by $20 which doesn't make a difference to us (since we are leaving) but surely matters to those who are looking to rent in Auckland for the immediate future.
