    Default Partner VISA

    Hi Guys,
I have a quick question about the Permanent Visa under the family category(partner) . After that a Case Officer has been assigned to your case what is the next step? A part from checking all your details and documents, is there any interview to attend? I have recieved a letter today confirming that my application is being considered under the Family Partnership Category but I am not sure what is going to happen next.

Any information will be really appreciated
    Many thanks for your help
    Regards

hello I'm applying under tha same category.

There shouldn't be an interview at all, and presuming that your medical was clear and there's no criminal record lurking about you might find yourself with blue stickers in your passport in the next month or so. NZ is keen to get its citizens home

If you do have a medical history in need of checking, your file will be referred to the medical assessors (commonly referred to as MA in this forum). This will add a good 2-3 months to your wait, if not more (see my timeline). If the MA says "no", your next best option is a medical waiver - in which case you can say, "yes I have been ill in the past, but look at my/partner's skills that NZ won't benefit from if you don't let me in!". Or words to that effect.

If your police records need checking out, they may request further information about the incident and you might need to get a character waiver.

    Hope that helps!

Hi, I am new to this board. I am married to a kiwi and plan to relocate back there Oct of this year all going well. I see from this board the PR applications can be quick (fingers crossed) if no medical/criminal items outstanding.

I have a quick question about the form. Under section C they are asking for all my family details. This is fine but not sure what to put into the column - "Partnership Status". My family (other than my kids) are not migrating with me.

    Thanks

    Sophie,

So...do you think it could be possible that if everything checks out ok with the medical history that it's possible to be granted PR in a month's time?...(according to Nikki_d72).

I'm trying to get my BMI down before getting my medical done. We're hoping to move by the first of August, but as of yet I have not had my physical, so I haven't sent in my application. ANY THOUGHTS?
    Thanks!

They will want your medical exam results before giving you an answer and if your BMI is over the limit along with your waistline then you can assume you will have to jump through some more hoops before you get PR. Sorry to tell you this but it seems the norm.

Catt, what is the waistline limit? I believe the BMI limit is 35, correct?
    Thanks!

Nevermind...I found it! Waistline should be equal to or less than 88cm for women. That's about 34 1/2 inches.

If all these requirements are met, how long do you think it would take to get PR?

If the panel doctor doesn't tick "significant or abnormal findings", there is no reason for the CO to refer your file to the medical assessors. If there's nothing else to investigate on your police records, and your partnership info looks valid, then there's not much else to keep them from saying "ok"

The tick can come from anything in your medical history though, for instance asthma or migraines, as well as the blood test results. Anything requiring a regular prescription would certainly do it. It's really hard to predict unless you've had a recent check-up that covers most of those factors, and know where your results tend to sit.

Ah, but one day they might want to emigrate themselves and could need those extra few points they can claim for having a relative resident in NZ already If you didn't list them, they'll have a hell of a time - and you could get caught out too.

Do you mean section A18 of form 1000? I was just looking to check that I was looking at the right part, but now I'm not sure.

Either way, when I completed A18 I listed my parents and brother, listing all of them as married.
