If you use Google StreetView, you can have a virtual look around almost all of NZ - it's possible to e.g. 'walk to work' from an area you may be thinking of living in, to see what the district, roads, paths, etc., are like, or to turn right around in a shopping street, to see the kind of businesses that are there.

It is wonderful! I've been able to stand outside the house my family have moved to since I was there, and follow in their footsteps to school, kindy and work.

Google is very helpful for finding unfamiliar locations but its spinning views and zooming in/out makes me giddy!

We did this before we moved here - once we found out what our address would be we 'walked to the beach' on streetview. Great fun! The reality is better though - you can feel the sunshine.
