    Default Looking for short-term accommodation

    Hello,

I am planning to come to Auckland and Wellington in July with Working Holiday Visa, and my main purpose is to find a permanent job. So for the first few weeks, I may have to stay at lodge or motel.

I will have a big luggage and laptop, so prefer to find a place with at least single room. Bathroom/toilet can be shared, kitchen is optional.

Any good suggestions for Auckland and Wellington?

    Thank you.

look into BBH backpacker hostels, they do have private rooms and some will be ensuite. Its friendlier than a motel as you share kitchen etc so you get to meet people, maybe you won't like all of them but its interesting. Should be a reasonable rate for weekly stay in the winter too. www.bbh.co.nz

Try trademe.co.nz. I saw some rooms located in Mt. Eden, Auckland. Small rooms with shared lounge, kitchen, etc. They have pics there for you to check it out too.

However, I'm not sure how convenient the location is to get to Auckland CBD. But that's one of my main options if and when I get there.

yes providing you check it out with the hostel first as not all backpacker hostels take children. We often have families through our hostel, its best to look for a smaller hostel and not one of the big ones like Base, and ask if they have a family room or a dorm room you can have to yourselves. the BBH website is a good place to look. In the winter most hostels will be quiet so will be easier for families, in the middle of summer it still works but keep in mind that the hostels will be full of travellers (most aged 20 - 27 so can be a bit noisy)
