No, was originally half thinking about it, but would have been a long drive for a slow and painful trot. Good luck if you are though.

I am 'probably' going to do it. It looks like a terrific course, but I did a 30k race last weekend so not sure if I will have recovered well enough to do myself justice. Forecast looking reasonable, a bit chilly with perhaps some fog.

Taupo now has three 1/2 marathons, plus all the other multisport events, these guys are really spoiled.....

I'll be doing the one on August 1 then Sept 4, both for a bit of a jolly, although I'd like to get a new pb I'm not sure it's going to happen since I've only bee for one run since the Welly marathon on June 27!

If anyone is interested, I did do the race, and what a course it is, certainly in my top 3. Very, very hilly, but never too arduous (apart from the final climb to the top of the saddle), the trails were great, scenery amazing, and the weather was perfect, not a cloud to be seen nor a breath of wind. It was -2 degrees but didn't feel cold. I managed to finish 6th overall so well pleased with that as well.

I have done the other off-road half in Kinloch, and whilst I enjoyed the experience I thought it was not a great course at all, constantly weaving around trees and up and down, no scenery other than trees, and a logjam at the start of the trail and for a good way into the race due to the narrowness of the course. I hope they have solved that issue for this year.

Anyone doing next weeks? I've just entered.

Also, and totally unconnected to the above, does anyone have a 6 day half marathon training programme handy?

I will happily cheer all the runners on. I will be the one waving the glass of Pinot for you whilst lazing in the sun

    Thanks, much appreciated.

Last time I was doing almost that course there were loads of people kindly having BBQ's around the course whilst cheering us on. As i went by, I did nearly rip a burger out the hand of one south african that had strayed too close to the course.....

    ummm - I have a 16 week marathon one

How about adopting the Ironman training philosophy of a run-walk protocol? 9 mins run, one min walk, repeat X times. You can go on forever like that. Do you remember the Duracell bunnies? That'll be you

    Good Luck!
