Default Advice sought on chances of me getting a job in New Zealand

    Greetings Friends!

I am a Commerce Graduate and a Cost and Works Accountant (CWA) from India. I have got around three years of experience. I currently am working in one of the leading Public Sector Undertaking of India as Junior Manager(Finance and Accounts). My job is to assist Regional Finance Manager say in Credit control and monitoring, Extending Financial concurrence to various Marketing proposals, Credit Rating of customers, Finalisation of Tenders, Monthly MIS Reports etc. Please note that I've never been to abroad yet.

I want to work in New Zealand and get Permanent Residency(PR) there. Could you please help me on this :

    a) Based on my qualifications and skills, do I have chances to get job in New Zealand? If yes, what should I be doing? Not sure applying over job sites from India is worth though
    b) Should I go for higher studies in New Zealand?
    c) Any other option you suggest.

I am damn serious about going and working in New Zealand. I will do my best efforts and wont let myself be a burden on the country rather will be productive to its growth. Any help from you will be respectfully received.

    Many Thanks in advance,
    Saurabh, Mumbai City, India.

Hello & welcome Saurabh. Here are some answers to the best of my knowledge and a bit of borrowed info reading this forum.

    a) Based on my qualifications and skills, do I have chances to get job in New Zealand? If yes, what should I be doing? Not sure applying over job sites from India is worth though
A: I didn't come across ANY job sites in India which help to get jobs in NZ, as of day Seek & Trademe are best options.

    b) Should I go for higher studies in New Zealand?
A: I don't have much experience in this area but someone in your field might be able to give much more effective answer.

    c) Any other option you suggest
A: Do consider doing a recce to NZ and look for jobs. Within the past few months I have seen the no. of jobs listed on seek & trademe plus responses to my applications has been more than positive.

Needless to say, people in this forum are very supportive and will provide all the information they have through experiences.

    All the best.

Thank you a lot Suniel for your Reply.

However, I'm afraid, dont' understand the word "recce".

    Please explain.

PS: What's seek & trademe ? I'm sorry I am a beginner here so don't know much about it all.

    Cheers.

Recce is trip to NZ, this can be done by having visitor visa (I assume you have Indian passport) and then looking/attending interviews & apply for Work Visa once you secure a job.

www.seek.co.nz & www.trademe.co.nz are two websites which list out jobs for majority of NZ.

Here's one thread might help you to understand acronyms used on this forum

    Thanks for replies.
Having gone through the strict immigration rules in vogue in NZ, nost sure I could be allowed to be given a work permit nor the work/job even though I am highly qualified as far as my qualification is concerned as per Indian Standards; I guess I should go for higher study in NZ which allows me to be eligible to get work permit and work/job there.
Could any one suggest what kinda course and where from I should be doing in NZ so that I am able to allowed to get work there.
    I need help badly.
Any help would be so much appreciated as I am planning to soon go for a course there.
    Cheers!

    Hi Forum!

I am so tense and sad as I've been applying for jobs in Seek.com lately however all the replies are coming in negative saying that : Your application has been unsuccessful and not been considered since you don't have a right to live and work in NZ .........Same is the case with other job sites too.........Seems it's not gonna work this way.......I'm afraid..... Please do suggest me what options do I have to get work there in NZ?

Please help me , guide me folks
    Cheers,
    Saurabh.
