Default How long to get a WTR Visa

Hi been asked if I want to be put forward for a job in Auckland for a company who is an accredited employer.

All excited as want to move to NZ as daughter lives there but she cannot sponsor us for another 21 months under the family category.

She was sponsored by her partner and got residency in July 09

How long would it take for a WTR visa to come through if I was success and got the job? What are the pitfalls of a WTR visa.

Any help or advice would be great.

This may help regarding WTR visas. http://www.emigratenz.org/work-visa-new-zealand.html No pitfalls if you're lucky enough to get an offer from an accredited employer under the Talent heading - work in the job for two years, and you're set for PR, usually.

The new Immigration Act, 2009, comes into force on 29th November (i.e. next week), and this will bring some changes in terminology, but the basic system will remain the same (see INZ after that date for full explanation - I think the only thing is going to be stronger obligations on the sponsoring employer, but nothing that would impinge on you).

INZ Auckland aren't mentioning WTR visas on their 'processing times' page at the moment, but other NZ offices seeming to be running at around a month, as long as it all goes smoothly. Be aware, though, that there can be delays if there are any hitches in proving your health, qualifications or character. Your prospective employer might have more idea if he's taken on anybody recently.

I have a WTR through an accredited employer. The longest wait was for my UK police cert which took about 2 months. I was already in NZ when I applied (on a working holiday visa). From when I actually submitted my application with police cert and medicals the visa/permit arrived in less than a week.

I think it is a great visa, and especially so if you earn >90k as you can go straight to the returning resident thingy after 2 years on a WTR talent.
