Default Dropping off a CV in person

Hello there! Has anybody had any luck with dropping off CVs in person? Is this an acceptable or effective way of applying for jobs in NZ? Any success stories?

    I did something like this.

I actually sent a CV and cover letter the normal route. But then I made a batch of cookies and wrote a note to go with it. The note pointed out that I was a demonstrating that I was innovative and a self starter. By baking cookies, I was demonstrating that I could follow directions, complete a project etc.
    you get the idea.

    They loved it!

I got an interview (of course) and I actually got a job offer.

Ironically, I did not end up taking the job.

That's a tad corny isn't it? How does baking a few cookies demonstrate that you can follow directions? Outright bribery!

Can't see what would be wrong with dropping off your CV to the company personally. I went into the place I wanted to work at, had a casual chat about what they did, mentioned in passing what I did, got asked to send my CV, sent it in and got some work there. So, it's definitely worth a try.

well, the note was very funny and very well written--wish I had kept a copy!

Definitely and arrange to see the Principal/team leader or whoever in management as well for a chat. You want them to remember your face when it somes to short-listing from many bits of paper.

A new relief teacher the other day came into our school with a huge plate of cookies and a flyer with her photo on...I'll be interested to see how long it takes before she's offered work!
