    Default Sending out CV 's

    Hi all ,

We are ready to lodge our ITA and am now looking for work in NZ.

Is it best to send out / canvass prospective employers now or wait till residency comes through ?

The wife is a nurse and I am a manager at an airport, we will go where the work is and have an open mind when it comes to location.

Has anyone used any agencies to find work whilst still in the UK

    Thanks for any advice

    Hi and good luck !
My wife is a nurse too and I'm about to move to NZ next week. We had the same doubts and this is what I discovered :
New Zealand employment market is relatively small and limited. Each industry has it's own best practise. In your industry there are few employers and they work with short list of employment agencies so it's no reason to start sending cv now as nobody will consider you seriouly until you have Visa and arrival date.
Nurses are in very high demand and it's possible to contact hospitals and recruitment agencies . She can be offered employment while staying overseas and even can be offered sponsorship in obtaining nursing license

Have your wife got a practising certificate sorted yet? That can take a while. We started the process of that when we did the ITA. Best bet is to google the Health Boards where you wish to stay and then check their vacancies.

We intended coming to Auckland and my better half kept an eye on the vacancies at the Starship (she is in peadiatrics), saw a position that suited, applied, did the interview over the phone whilst in the UK and got the job.
