    Default Reference

I just received a reference from an old employer for my ITA employment proof, but the guy didn't print it off on headed paper! Grrr! It's signed and everything so just wondering should I hassle him and get it sent again on headed paper (don't really want to) or would this suffice for INZ?

Have tax records and bank statements as well for this period of employment.

Depends on the specific situation I would say. Is it one out of ten - no issues probably. Is it the only one - it might very well be. The same applies to number of years or to the importance level of that particular role.

It's 1 of 4 company references but covers about 4 years out of a total of 8. So it's my most important reference.

Would you hire somone on the basis of that letter and accept that as evidfence of half their work experience? Think about it that way. Put yourself in the shoes of NZIS Case Officer.

Hi, I had the same issue as you and officer told me that she can't accept reference which is not on headed paper and I had to ask my previous employer to send me a new copy (which delayed the application for another month

    Good luck

I had an interesting one along these lines a few weeks ago.

I requested a reference from an ex-employers HR Department and they advised that they would issue it on headed paper but would be available as a 'digital version' only as they are moving to 'paperless office' systems.

I sent a colour copy of the 'digital' version off with a copy of the e-mail stating the above and it was accepted. If 'push came to shove' I think I could get an 'original' version but this is a problem that we are going to encounter more often in our increasingly digitised world.

Then you should ask for the 'real' stuff with official letter head IMO.
