Default To Travel and look for Job - Please advice

    Hi All

Will it be worthwhile booking a trip over purely with the purpose of attending interviews/meetings with Agencies /recruiters / potential employers even if you're then returning to where you came ?

We have finished our Interview July 2010 and awaiting for a Decision from INZ , we can’t move as we can't get work permits that's difficult, topic covered many times in this forum.

    1. Is it worthwhile to tell Agencies /recruiters / potential employers that you were available on the ground for an interview between x an x dates , are they more likely to entertain you as a serious prospect,
    2. But the point here is as the ' move is not yet made ?
ARE they going to take you seriously
I know of a few cases where this has worked, but what about the rest of you - any experiences/advice?

    3. Budget : Do you think - Return Flight Tickets Plus + NZ$1500 for Accommodation and travel sufficient funds

Keeping in view the forums vast experience please advice

I think it depends what sort of job you want. I got a teaching job from overseas. Some employers will look at you, some won't. Send your CV to potential employers, and explain in a covering letter your situation, and that you will be willing to attend interviews. It is worth a try, just to see what they say!

    Hi wiseboy22
Will be looking at Civil Engineering and GIS Jobs.
I had spoken to the forum about my job prospects in an earlier thread all were positive , the option then was i travel after the approval of PR unlike now.

Will shoot a mailer to some agencies and try their response , the first hand approach i guess .

Cheers now and will look forward to hear from people
Would be appreciative if any civil engineers give me insight about what employers look into
