Default Re-location Packages when moving to NZ

What kind of re-location packages have people been offered when moving from further afield to NZ?

I have received a number of job offers and whilst the offers themselves are one thing, salary, medical insurance, pension, car, etc, the re-location packages that have been offered have varied significantly. Some have offered just a single lump sum to cover everything, others have broken this down into separate capped items covering immigration, shipping and flights, accommodation, etc, whilst others still have offered to provide a car and accommodation for 'X' months on top of the financial re-location package offered. The best offer I have received though would barely cover one third of the total cost for visas, shipping and flights to get the family out there. Probably a sign of the times in what is a 'buyers market'.

Just wondering what other people have found they have been offered and whether employers have been receptive to negotiation on the total package.

Most people get little or nothing so consider yourself lucky! I had to ask for it and only got 10 days' accommodation and car hire.

I came 3.5 years ago and got flights for me, OH and 2 kids paid for; accomodation and a car for 2 weeks; container and shipping refunded; and visas for OH refunded (kids and I had kiwi passports).

Although in the end we had to pay for the container and visas as they were dependent on me staying with the business for 2 years but I only managed 18 months before I left for a better job!
    Ex Kiwi, now back again!

Wish I had passed the ITA Scotty!!! Meds have been referred to the MA and I'm going through follow up tests now, including stuff that I anticipate will be asked for by the MA next (upper abdominal scan) just to pre-empt any further delays.

I'll enjoy a double burger fuel meal when I've finally got the "blueys" in my hand, assuming my LFT's and Cholestorol levels are in the green!!

    Hi skywatcher,
How tough was to search and secure a job in NZ, while you were in UK? I've been trying to apply through some recruitment firms but, everyone says I need to have the visa first and need to be in NZ for face-2-face interview. I'm still waiting for CO to be assigned for my application...

Any guidance to search a job will really help...

    Tks,

I negotiated $5,000 for relocation which they said they normally never provide to people. I think having a recruiter as a mediator and advocate helped during the whole negotiation phase. If I leave before a year is up, it will need to paid back. It just got deposited in the bank yesterday :-)

    Hello and welcome.

What line of work are you in? There seems to be a big difference in what is normal, between different professions.
