All banks have their pros and cons. Look at one that has a branch local to where you are living, and lets you open the accounts and have the cards that you want to begin with.
I waited until I arrived and it tok about 10 minutes to get a cheque account and savings account opened!

We opened a Westpac account when we went to an expo. They opened a savings account and helped arrange a mortgage before we arrived. When we arrived our cards were ready & waiting fro us. No problems.
