Transferring Indian Rupee to NZ??

Hi All,
We will moving to NZ in couple of weeks and wondering what is the best way to transfer my money. We have opened a bank account with BNZ and I am wondering which is better way to transfer Indian Rupee (INR) from my local bank account (they charge quite a bit) to BNZ or take the cash with me in INR and convert @ airport to NZD and deposit it in my account.

Any ideas/suggestion which would be better?

Whatever else you do, I DON'T think converting money at any airport is going to be the best deal for you. Those places are working with a captive audience, so they can get away with charges that are NOT competitive.

I used Thomas Cook in India to transfer my money to ANZ NZ.


I would suggest go down to their office and work out the best FX rate (yes, it is negotiable depending on amount you are transfering).


Do take your check book to make payment to Thomas Cook and your BNZ account number with complete BANK Code.
