Default Yukk - what are they?

Last night I saw a strange 'thing' on my laptop screen. It was black, about a quarter of an inch in length, looked just like a thick piece of cotton thread, but it wriggled. Then today I found a tiny crop of the same kind of creatures wriggling on the wall half way up my staircase....what are they?? There are none in the kitchen, they weren't found near an open window, they dont seem to have legs or wings. I don't have pets but do have the windows and doors open most of the time.

Sorry Sam, I've 'removed' the visitors! Spent a good few hours online looking at photos of various insect larvae (guessing that's what it must be) but cannot identify it. Not found any further visitors so hopefully they realise they are not welcome here!

Dunno what they are but if they are only 1/4 of an inch long and rather thin then at least it won't hatch into something big. Could they have been Stick Insects (just a guess, 'cause I have no idea what the larvae look like) but more likely some type of small moth grub.

    Cheers

I was amused by one responder's suggestion that the poor guy should try to feed them... Just what you want, to raise a couple of dozen pet unidentified thingies!
