    Default Qualification comparability assessment request

    Hi Everyone,

I would like to seek your assistance whether someone has done a qualification comparability assessment request from NZQA after the IQA was released and your qualification was not exactly on the list of LTSSL.

My occupation is under ICT, Electronics and Telecommunication but my Bachelor degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering has a final result of assessment was comparable to Bachelor Degree of Applied Sciene (Level 7).

Below are options to meet in order my work experience to be recognized.

Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Information Technology (Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology)

OR Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technology AND three years of relevant work experience.

    Regards,
    Jeremy

Same is happened with me. I am unable to understand why NZQA is unable to access electronics and communication engineering degree.

This degree is most popular and well renowned degree in world. But I am surprised to see result for assessment of electronics and communication engineering degree is in generic outcome [A bachelor degree at level 7 (480 Credits) ]

Senior guys, Plz guide us we have to claim bonus point. What we have to do?

    Thanks.

No there is no specific title stated..generic outcome A bachelor degree at level 7 (480 Credits)

My degree is bachelor engineering in Electronics and Communication (4 Years full time).

But it is accessed by NZQA is A bachelor degree at level 7 (480 Credits).

    Explanation of Assessment outcome:

Your bachelor of engineering has been compared to bachelor degree at level 7 (480 credits) here in New Zealand. This is a generic outcome. This mean that while there is substantial similarity in structure and learning outcomes to a New Zealand qualification there is not a current New Zealand qualification at this level that is level that is substantially similar in focus, content and/or inent.

    Hello everyone,
Can any guide me how to make NZQA Comparability Assessment Request letter and what is the procedure for this?
I have applied for IQA early Jan this year. Also i have sent them coverletter in such a way that
In EOI, i claimed bonus points for my qualification in one of the areas of absolute skills shortage . Currently my Occupation is Software Tester and i hold a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering. As per immigration guide lines, a person can claim bonus points if they hold qualification relevant to the occupation as specified in column four of the Long Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL).
At the time of generation of IQA report, based on your outcome, i request you to provide a report in such a way that , Immigration NewZealand can understand that my qualification (Bachelors degree) will qualify for bonus points and the bonus points which i have claimed in my EOI are valid.

My question is Is this right way to make NZQA Comparability Assessment Request letter?

    Any suggestions or inputs.....

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi

For 3 years of Bachelor degree they are giving 360 credits whereas in your case you have been allocated 480 credits as your degree is of 4 years

    Hi Jeremy,

I have been trying to catch you up if you're online to ask some questions. But no luck at all.

Anyways, could you spare me some time? I just want to ask how did you obtained assessment of your degree? Is it by NZQA or IPENZ?
Im on my EOI process and I'm stucked in this portion, have to get my degree assessed first in order for me to claim points. But I am not sure of which assessing body should I go though it was clearly stated in EOI form about NZQA.

    Thanks & regards,

    Hello lloyd lizarondo,

I am Civil Engineer i got Level 7 & Level 9 Generic outcome, in that case in order to claim for the bonus points , i needed to contact with IPENZ, now because my degree was not accredited by Washington accord, i had to apply for KA02.

furthermore, one who had been in similar situation as you are , may respond you here, but not to waste time, look at your NZQA IQA report card , it must contain the information regarding contacting authority for further assessment/what ever needed. , furthermore if you are still not sure of which assessing body you should contact than send an email to NZQA and inquire from them, i believe they are polite and can respond to in time, even if you don't get reply from NZQA, than start from, IPENZ send them and email and ask them if that's the right authority for further assessment, for sure they will guide you.

    I hope this helps you

Can any one clarify my concern.

I have bachelor degree in architecture, and i am planning to get comparability with Bachelor of building technology.
I have done PAR and it is successful and states that qualification is level 7.
So both qualification are at same level.
But before going to comparability assessment and IQA. i just want to know if any one done it already

You can't tell only from PAR, I'm afraid. PAR is only done on the basis of the NAME of the qualification as you wrote it on the form. Comparability is only possible when they do the full IQA, which involves looking at the content studied, to what depth, and for how long, as shown by the documents from your university, and then they compare that with existing degree courses in NZ.
