It's fair to say that applicants meet with a range of differing attitudes, so it's very much a matter of individual choice how you decide to proceed.

    Hi Chrisplanet
Yeah, go for FULL IQA assessment first as this would take about 3months to get your result. While waiting for your IQA, you may want to get all those supporting documents ready as well as the police clearance certificate. This would actually help you to save bit of time for the ITA stage.
For our case, we are in the waiting game for CO to be assigned to our application. Well, hearsay it will take at least 4-6 months for a CO to allocate so start now and don’t wait…

my degree was also from USQ, major in IT. I did first year distance learning and remaining on campus. However it wasn't listed on the exempted list, thus i sent it for IQA and the result came back good. INZ didn't ask me about location i did my degree.

I have done all from EOI, IQA...ITA without agent with heaps of information and helps from the people here. The process will be tiring but if you put things organised and not doing last-minute rushing, it is not complex.

All the best to both of you.

Thanks powerx1 and threeoneone for your advice.

We found out that my husband's degree is being administered by the Open Polytechnic of NZ jointly with USQ as a Level 7 qualification, that is recognised by IPENZ and Institution of Engineers AU as engineering technologist. We were hoping to see if we could use that as equivalence qualification on that basis, but after checking with the EOI team it seems we will still need to do IQA since the qualification from USQ itself is not on the LoQEA. Already gathering the info, yes it is quite tedious indeed (but good for record keeping!).

My husband is also intending to submit his Poly Diploma qualification for assessment (as he obtained exemptions for his degree because of this qualification), how to prove the programme/qualification is accredited by the national accrediting body in the country of origin? Is recognition of the Poly by the Ministry of Education enough?

For evidence of work experience, are bonus and promotion letters good enough? Might be sensitive to get testimonials from current employer (ex-employers ok).

    Thanks for advice!

Just jumping in a bit here... evidence of work experience can also be offer letters, each year's IRAS summary statement (to show those are paid employment), and HR letter at the end of each employment to certify you in fact worked there, doing what, salary how much, and that you were an employee of good standing. If you didn't have a letter like that when you left your previous employment, you should be able to ask from the respective HR now. Just ask it in a sweetest and most charming manner usually does the trick. Haa!
