Hi All
I've just been reading Manks blog and thought of asking about the NZMCA.
What are the pros and cons, and is it a good idea to be a member only if you own your own camper?

The NZMCA really is targeted at those with their own motorhomes or caravans to enable you to get the most out of it. Check out the benefits to see what you can get, but then there's nothing to say that you can't join and still get some of those benefits (fuel card, discounts at Beaurepaires, Noel Leeming, ferry crossings, holiday parks etc).
Joining fee is about $120 and annual membership is around $80. But it paid for itself straight away because we got a $200 discount on insurance for our camper for being members. Everything else on top of that now is a bonus.
The biggest benefit for us is the travel directory that highlights thousands of places to stay, many for free, around the country. It's now our bible on trips. But this is aimed at self-contained vehicles as many places have no toilet facilities. We have a porta potti but try not to use it!
