You are eligible when you meet
all of these requirements:
- you have a visa that entitles you to remain in New Zealand indefinitely; and
- you have been physically present in New Zealand for a minimum of 1,350 days during the 5 years immediately preceding your date of application and for a minimum of 240 days in each of those 5 years, being days during which you were entitled to be in New Zealand indefinitely; and
- you are of good character; and
- you have sufficient knowledge of the responsibilities and privileges attaching to New Zealand citizenship; and
- you have sufficient knowledge of the English language; and
- you intend, if granted citizenship, to continue to reside in New Zealand.
Refer to
Section 8 of the Citizenship Act 1977.
Meeting the presence requirement alone is
not enough, despite what the poster above me is inferring.
