Rental Prices for Houses in NZ

House rents vary between New Zealand’s cities and towns. In general, North Island house rents are higher than South Island house rents, and Auckland lets are higher priced than lets in other cities.

Rental prices have been provided by the Tenancy Services Division of the New Zealand Government’s Ministry of Housing. Rental prices are shown separately below for two and three bedroomed houses.

Three bedroomed houses are the most popular property type to be rented in New Zealand.

The figures up to 30 November 2012 show that the average (median) rent for a two bedroomed house in New Zealand was $285 per week and for a three bedroomed house was $340 per week.
