there are loads of threads on this, do a search. Might be worth looking at what age is the minimum for a puppy is see MAF website.
we gave ours to a good home, cost versus complications of getting out of Cyprus was too much.
Still miss them all dearly but life is easier ie renting a house, etc if you do not have animals in toe.
Takes 6 months plus to do vacinations so get going.

We also gave our two golden retrievers away and we have missed them too.
But it made easier for us to find rental house suit children rather than suit dogs. It would us lots of money to ship them over where we feel that money should be priorty toward our children.

From the UK, the process is much easier. There's a battery of tests that are required over a 30 day period before departure. But provided the animal has been in the UK for at least six months, there is no need for additional delay. And there's no NZ quarantine required upon arrival.
Minimum age is 16 weeks. If under six months old, must have been born in the UK and never left.
So the primary concern is the flight over. Most dogs seem to do OK (perhaps better than their owners) but individual temperament matters. Is the pup anxious, does it chew itself when stressed, etc.

Plus there is the cost implication. We were never given the chance to bring our Yorkshire Terrier with us, but it would have cost around 1500 GBP to bring her.
Do a search on Golden Arrow (Shropshire) or Airpets down near Gatwick I think, there is stuff on this forum and contact numbers I think.
And there is the responsibility/rental angle too.
Good luck.

Hi Tash,
We brought our 11yr old mongrel with us and to say she wasn't affected by the move would be a lie. As well as moving her in a crate for a flight half way round the world, she had to contend with her pal (our other dog) having been put down only a matter of a few weeks earlier. Tess had been in Kelly's company for all 11 years. Also as we left her with vet to complete all vaccinations for 1 month, needless to say she came off that flight quite distressed. Only took a few days to get over all that had happened though.
As for costs, all in with vaccinations we paid 2.5k to get her here:wah We used Skymasters and they flew her from Manchester.
