Registered Nurse in UK but not in NZ

Hi guys

I am just wondering if anyone can give me an idea please on finding jobs outside Nursing in Wellington, NZ. I was basically a Clinical Nurse Specialist in London but decided not to pursue my registration in New Zealand because I was afraid it might delay our departure as my partner needed to leave urgently.

Originally I was planning to take this opportunity to find jobs in other industry, but I am struggling at the moment as the only experience I've got is obviously within the nursing profession. Has anyone came to New Zealand in the same situation and was able to find a job?

I was thinking that my last resort would be to apply as a Health Care Assistant.

Any thoughts?

When are you planing on leaving?

We are going under SMC as the Mrs is a RN.

Get your registration started early. There is a lot of work in getting transcripts of training etc, employment letters etc

We secured a job before the NZNC registration was approved but that was by sheer luck as employers want your registration through first.

I can help pass you details of who we used to get the job and I couldn't praise them more. Very professional, knowledgeable and timely. It doesn't cost you anything.

are you uninterested in pursuing registration once you move? my only experience is getting my registration as a migrant, and the process is irritating, but do-able. Im Canadian trained. It took me a few months to get everything together. I would eventually like to get out of nursing, but finding a different job that pays anything close to as much is a challenge. If you are interested in getting your NZ registration, I can answer questions.

I am UK trained, worked in US and then applied to NZ, now working as an RN here. Long drawn out registration process but worth it.
