Is this a name change?

Hi everyone,

Old details from an expired passport:

The given name = John Doe
Family name = Smith

Change in name ( this thing happened back in 2010 when renewing the passport )
************************************************** ****************

The given name = John
Family name = Doe

Is this considered as a change in the name? it was just that "Smith" was removed, and given name is split into two items ( given name and family name).
Does anyone know if this is considered to be a "name change" for citizenship application?
