Default Temp vs Residence in terms of reimbursement and subsidiary

What are differences (in terms of government reimbursement and subsidiary etc.) between someone whom is in NZ on a temporarily visa (Work to Residence) vs. one that is in NZ on a Skilled Migrant Category (Residence)

    Cheers, J

Are you asking about state benefits here?

People who are on temporary work visas have no entitlement to benefits. People who are Residents have very limited entitlement - I think the exception is if there are children in hardship - until after they have been in NZ for two years and become PRs. You can check the range of benefits here. http://www.workandincome.govt.nz/ind...its/index.html

Anyone on a work visa that is for 24 months at least, and any Resident, has the right to use the NZ health service on the same terms as NZ nationals.

And after three years as a Resident living in the country, a student loan from the government is available. (Residents are eligible for domestic rate fees straight away, but their funding is up to them.)

    Hi JandM,

Again, thanks for the quick reply.

Would this apply in my situation? Temp visa (Work to Residence) but it is a perm job. (more than 24 months)

    Cheers, J

Yes, that covers you. Also, if you have family accompanying you on visas matching yours for length of time, it will be the same for them.
