Default Your First Meal in Wellington - Where!?!

So you've had a 24 hour/2 day flight. You arrive in Wellington 2pm local time. You have three young kids with you. But that night, your first in your new 'home', you want to go out for something nice to eat to celebrate.

    Where do you go!?!?!

(we'll be living in Miramar btw, but happy to jump on public transport)

It depends on what you want, but here are my picks

Cafe Istanbul - Turkish...need to get a bus into town
Satay Kampong- Malaysian...need to get a bus into town

I have been to the Mexican restaurant in Miramar but liked the Newtown one better, also in Miramar: the Thai restaurant on the corner over the road from new World is much much better than the Thai upstairs in the barn building next to New World. There are lots of good takeaway in the area as well.

Finding a good food in Wellington, is not really hard...just expensive.

Also let me know if you want other local knowledge, as I lived in Strathmore for 20 years

The reality is that you won't be jumping on the bus to go into town after that flight especially with three young children. I suggest you just pop to the New World supermarket in Miramar and get something to eat. There are some takeaway food places in Miramar too. If you really want to go out locally there is La Boca Loca (Mexican), cafe Polo, Coco at the Roxy cinema. Or just have fish and chips, the one opposite new world is fine. I would save the celebration meal for a couple of days.
    Have a good journey.

New World supermarket items or Burger Fuel sounds really good on a first day. Agree with girlwithanewf - we arrived on a 5:30pm, checked into the hotel at 7, crashed out until the next morning.

You are all going to be knackered! Hell's Pizza's all round and grab a good bottle of NZ Pinot to wash it down.
