    Default Schools in Auckland

    Hi everyone!

Does anyone know anything about 'Girls Schools' in Auckland our daughter is 14 and has attended an all girls school in the UK so far - are there League tables?

Are Independant schools worth the extra costs?

    Any help gratefully appreciated guys.

Hi Lesley, we looked into EGGS (Epsom Girls Grammar) and Auckland Girls Grammar and settled on Macleans,(co-ed and in the area we wanted to live in, but second best academically performing school in NZ. Search Macleans on the top bar and you'll find loads of ifo, probably mainly from me!
This link http://www.tki.org.nz/e/schools/index.php will help you find ERO reports (like Ofsted in England or Estyn in Wales), school websites etc

http://www.isnz.org.nz/ helps you explore independent schools.

Not sure about league tables (didn't look as we didn't have them in Wales and they are rather controversial anyway), but NCEA/IGCSE results are published each year to reflect the schools' "rankings".

Let us know how you get on,

    Gil

PM me if you want o discuss...

Just as a matter of interest, how are the schools ranked and which is the top performing school?

HOWEVER .. have a look at this ..

    http://subs.nzherald.co.nz/section/1...ectid=10393672

.. it caused quite a stir!

I would consider where you want to live first .. there are good schools all over Auckland and IMO there is not ONE school that you must send your daughter to.

Anyway, that aside, my daughter goes to Baradene College which is a Girls Catholic School in Remuera and it is great .. if you want any more info feel free to PM.

Thanks for that Dawn. Great information. Once we have decided on our location, we will do the rounds with her and see which school she thinks will best suit her needs.

it's a big deal to her at the moment being 14 as you can imagine!
