    Question Mould/Mildew in Curtains

OK, anyone know how to get this off, or is it a case of new curtains??? They are thermal backed, and one set is black outs.

I dry the windows every day too if there is condensation... so it should not have happened in the first place.

I figure I am not going to be the only one with this prob round here....

Have you got a dehumidifier, cos it sounds like you need one?

Yup... got it last year, same time as the nice new curtains!

We've got this on one set of curtains. Tried washing but to no avail. So would be interested to hear if any has any solutions as well

Jub Jub we had this problem in one room, although not so much now that we have put a carpet in for some reason.

We don't have normal curtains in there, just black out curtains, we used a spray mould cleaner and it worked well - we did a spot check first just in case it did any damage.

However, I suspect it wouldn't be OK for normal fabric. Have you looked at the spray-on carpet cleaners? Maybe they would work and they should be suitable for fabric.

    Cheers

Well I have just washed 4 sets of curtains that were in a rental and although they weren't too badly affected they did have mildew stains in parts.

I soaked them overnight in a fairly strong solution of Napisan in hot water. Some of the stains were still noticeable after the soaking/rinsing .. but they seemed to disappear on the line whilst drying. They look as good as new now!

Woohoo, thats promising... I have been told to soak in napisan and wash, and apparently the crucial bit is dry them outside in the sun to finish the job off.

Hopefully I hang them out right, or the thermal backing will stick to each other!
