I think awareness is in its early stages but moving very rapidly forward (not surprising with Tony Attwood, world authority, living just next door in Oz).
I get the impression the NZ ed system is trying to gear itself up to children with less obvious difficulties. I can't see why it should affect your application. Asperger Syndrome people just see the world in a slightly different way and all we need to learn is take a step towards their world rather than expecting them to fit into ours.
