    Default Google Earth 4.1

    http://earth.google.com/

I know google dont need plugging but this is a superb tool and enhancement over the normal google maps.

Check your PC spec and download

Great for getting orientated and looking
where the houses are all located etc

Particularly like the zoom function - gives an incite
what military satelites etc can see and pick up !
Not that I sit in a bunker all day enclosed in a Faraday cage !

    Another useful link

    http://www.nztopoonline.linz.govt.nz/

Click on New Zealand Mainland only NZMG at the top left of the page then choose monitor size and scroll down to accept terms and conditions.

Click on map to zoom .

The Titles and Records link might be useful for the house buying ?

    Hey thirtysomethings!

I've got Google Earth on my laptop and it is superb. They have an excellent 'route planner' option now aswell. You plot the route you want, and if does a sort of 'birds eye view - fly by' of the entire route! Its fantastic.

The other link is brilliant too!!

    Cheers

A feature I did not know about till someone else posted it was the 100% new zealand layer that you can turn on, give all the tourist spots too.

It's been a perfect aid to checking out places for possible living sites. I found a flood plain problem this way. On querying with the agent, who told me it's a 100 year flood POND risk I then discovered this place had 2 floods in 1987 & 2005! Looking at the geographics gives a good overall perspective. It's lovely to watch too.
