    Default NZ Pension?

I hope someone can answer this one for me.

As far as I can make out, to qualify for a NZ pension one has to have lived here for 10 years prior to retiring.

Although hubby is working, I am having difficulty finding a job (something I hadn't considered when I left UK as I am a pretty well qualified and experienced secretary/PA) and, at 47, I am beginning to wonder what would happen if I couldn't find work at all??

Would I ever get any kind of pension when I get to 65?

I'm hoping that it won't be a problem for long and that I will find something soon!

WINZ (Work and Income NZ) is the government department that looks after social welfare matters.

Here's the page that tells you what you need to do to qualify:

Hi Chrissie, you get the full NZ pension even if you've never done a day's work in your life! Time of residence is the only requirement. The other difference from the UK is that at 65 here you can continue getting wages from working PLUS still receive the full pension.
