    Default Duvets and Pillows

I have just remembered that we have a feather duvet and pillows.
Feathers are on the restricted lists, I take it this means we can't take our duvet with us?

We were told by Pickfords and PSS that feathers in pillows etc were acceptable and I have just looked at the MAF website and found this
    http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/files...acfoic.all.pdf

If you go to part 6 it says
6.4 : Private or commercial importation of quilts, duvets, pillows and sleeping bags may be given clearance.
This whole section concerns importing feathers.

    Hope this helps

Never even gave ours a thought when the packers came in.

They were just packed up along with the rest of my bedding.

We brought our feather duvet too - another wedding present - and had no problems with MAF. My understanding is that feathers used in making bedding have been sterilised in the manufacturing process. Though I dread to think of all the bugs that live in them once they've been used for a while!!

I love my feather duvet and pillows so much that I rolled them up and brought them in our suitcases via LA. I declared them on the customs/MAF arival card, no probs - not even interested.

We don't have feather duvets...but one of the shipping companies who came to quote for us, advised that you could get feather duvets dry cleaned, and then keep the in drycleaner bag or one of those vacume air bags for shipping. Aparently, MAF would not bother looking at stuff then, as they are obviously clean!

I have got 2 down 'Puffa' style jackets, do they have to be declared??? They have been washed ready for packing.
