    Default Average NZ house prices

    Hi all,

Does anyone know of a source for finding the current average house prices in NZ? I am trying to establish how prices vary from region to region.

    Thanks James

    The first link says:
The average price of a house in New Zealand has risen to £136,665 ($381,298) from June’s £135,724 ($378,672).
    and the second link says:
The average house price in New Zealand fell from $347,500 to $345,000 between June and July 2007.
...which pretty much sums up house market reporting; for every article saying the market is falling, there's another one saying it isn't.

    Try this too:

This article dated 11 Sep has a pdf you can download showing median price by region:

Almost all of the houses I was following for the last 6 months or so have dropped with 10-15%. This is in the (semi-rural) Hamilton area.

However some real estate agents seem to have a firm grip on "their" local market. Like in Raglan, there is very little movement in the market, but the prices hardly ever change (very few exceptions) to meet the actual situation.
