Default Weather in Christchurch Feb - May

    Hello,
Almsot packed - waiting for stamps! Leaving from the Deep South of the USA!

Can you tell me what the weather is Feb - May. When do you start needing sweaters and warmer clothes...when does autumn start?

We wont have our shipment till about May. And, I dont want to be buying stuff in the interum period.

Would you let me know how you might plan for the weather ?
    Jennifer

The usual thing to do for a trip to NZ is cover all bases. The weather is so changable, you can and probably will get caught out. Take a bikini AND a sweater AND waterproofs.

Junnifer, I think you'll find the weather right now to be somewhat similar to what you're accustomed to in South Carolina. I went to NZ from SC a couple years ago in February; it was a little chillier, but quite comfortable. By May, though, you might want to get your heavy sweaters (if you have any there in SC!) ready.

    HTH,

*Looking out of the window*.. it's a beautiful day! Jan thru March is "summer" but then we haven't had one yet.. although it does seem to be warming up considerably.

However, the winds can bite and in the shade it can get freezing.. so, as Timbo said, you really need to bring clothes for any eventuality - layers preferably so you can strip down to a t-shirt at a moments notice and then pile on layer by layer as it cools down! And remember that often you burn more on overcast days, hot or not, .. so bring that sunscreen - even with factor 30+ I have tanned :P

This week we are looking at temps of 24 - 26 degrees and clear skies... but that can change in an instant.. and it also depends on where you will be in NZ..

Well whoever said I was moving for the weather.

Sounds like a British Summer (well warmer but as changeable).

Whats the Ski Season around Christchurch like?

    Thanks
