    Default Internet Providers

    Hi

I haven't been able to find a thread on this subject, so if it has already been covered please forgive me.

Anyway the questions are who are the best internet providers in NZ, what are the costs and how long does it take to get the service provided.

I guess there may be some link with who provides the telephone service, so any advise on this would also be helpful.

9 weeks to go and then we are on our way !!

    Thanks

    Dave

I have bumped up one and another that might help is 'internetnz eh'. posted by caven. although I have a feeling that some of that isn't accurate as we have fibre optic connection where we are.

Most providers will be able to have you connected within a day or two.

    Here's some providers:

Slingshot have cheaper International calls ,you can ring any time of day to UK, Aust etc compared to the others where you have to wait until after 6pm and a few dollars more.

We're using Kiwi on-line (www.kol.co.nz) at the moment... unlimited dial-up for $9.95 a month with no extra charges. Was pretty easy to set up over the net (in the library!) but the quality isn't great. It's not always easy to get connected and it can be painfully slow... worse than UK dial-up. However, it is helping us stay in touch while we research broadband. We're probably going to go with Telecom broadband (www.telecom.co.nz) as that's who provides our phoneline... $44.95 a month for Telecom customers($54.95 for anyone else) for 1 Mbps speed up to 1Gb, then dial-up speed for anything more. Not great with the limited amount, but seems comparable with anything else I've found.

Has anyone found a better broadband deal than that? :hopeso

    Hi
I'm writing this via Xtra Jetstream go - it's Broadband and costs $39.95 a month. That's for upto 1GB then it reverts to 64kbs for the rest of the month
