I get the feeling the MA's are a mystery to everyone

good luck with your referrals, the only bit of advice I can offer is if the MA asks for information a,b and c make sure you send as much detailed information on all 3 as you can

    Default Question for Dusk

    Hi Dusk,

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I can't figure out how to send you a private message. We're applying for residency, and our apps were just referred to the MAs. My husband has type 1 diabetes also, though no complications so far (and a perfect A1C) and we're wondering what kinds of information/further tests they may request. We're supposed to leave for NZ on Aug 20, so we're on pins and needles waiting for the paperwork. If you'd be willing to share any of your experience with them, we would really appreciate it!

    Thanks!

Hi Ness, if you OH is otherwise healthy and his blood tests are all fine then you should have very little trouble at all

If they ask for anything else I would think they would want reports from diabetes specialists (annual review type reports) or fasting blood tests do

Thanks for your response, Dusk. He's a bit overweight (but BMI <35) and his cholesterol is a bit high, but it's all controlled by meds. I guess we just have to wait and see and hope for the best
