Can you tell us, does your expertise on the shortage list?
or can you tell us what is your expertise?

    Thx

I have a bachelor degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. My work experience started in the technical field of data communications & networking in the early years, then over the years moved to various fields within IT infrastructure and finally a manager in a specialised area within IT infrastructure engineering.

I got 10 points for qualification in an Area of Absolute Skills Shortages (I guess engineering degree was one) but I didn't get the 15 points of work experiences in Skills Shortage Area simply because my current job title said I was an "engineering manager" of sort and so the EOI officer changed my chosen occupation in the EOI form from "IT Consultant" (the closest match I could find in terms of job scope) to "Engineering Manager" which wasn't in the ICT industry and did not qualify for bonus points. I think my corporate job title was a misnomer but I didn't argue further since the officer said 145 points were good enough for him to issue me an ITA. And so that was the basis for me to provide supporting evidences for.

I just feel lucky that it all worked out eventually.

BTW Spooky, I'm seriously thinking of a recce trip in Feb 2009. So may be we will cross path somewhere in NZ

we have another member here yossarian get his application be approved in 2.5 months.
but you get your application approved in 6 months.

both of you work on IT related professional. if i remember correct, you score higher than him.
I have no idea on how they put priority.

btw, do you provide any additional document between April 08 to Oct 08? for example ielts, nzqa, health report ...etc?

No additional information was requested and I did not furnish any further information after I lodged my ITA.

I waited for almost 10 months to get the feedback for the phone interview which is going to be held next week. hopefully, everything goes smooth. Udang, my case is similar to yours as I am engineering background but went to work in software development and recently an infrastructure manager for managing projects and designing new infra layout for the company. how did you approach for this especially your interview questions? u can pm me if there are some sensitivity here we can definitely meet in future, either here or NZ where u plan to go? my 1st choice is currently ACK, then Welly or chch depends on the opportunities offered

what kind of questions were thrown at you during in the interview? (following the interview question list?)
