It's Invitation to Apply (ITA). Once you have done your expression of interest, been selected from the pool and then got decision successful NZIS will invite you to apply for residency.

It is actually a load of forms, most of which are completed for you from the information you gave on your EOI that you have to check, update, complete and return to NZIS with your birth certificates, police checks and anything else they ask for.

In a nutshell ITA is the formal application for residency in New Zealand.

Not sure if it's the same for WTR or just PR

I'm still trying to work out all the lingo and abbrev of everything,
perhaps that could be a thread of its own if some clever clogs has not already made one'

    EOI; Expression of Interest

This is the Skilled migrant stream, the most common one

This is the process when applying for PR (permanent residency). Going for a WTR (temp work visa) you do not fill out an ITA.
