Shipping Small Package US -> NZ
I'm looking for some help/advice on a decently-priced option to ship a small box from the US to NZ. Roughly 10kg (25 lbs for the Yanks!) in weight.
My folks have been looking at the regular shipping options in the US - post office, FedEx, etc. - and the best they're getting is around $450US, without any express options.
This seems ridiculous to me, I'm wondering if there's a cheaper way?
I've scoured the forum and can't find any directly helpful information.
Thanks!

Have you tried International flat rate boxes?
You get them at the post office and they come in 2 different sizes/shapes.
The weight limit is 20lb and the smaller/flatter box is 38.95 and the larger/square one is 49.95.
If the postage is bought online you can save a few bucks.
You'd probably have to ship 2 boxes but that's still way cheaper than your quote and more stuff could be added to the 2nd box to make it worth while.
The 3 drawbacks I see are weight limit, size limitations (you must use their particular boxes to get the rate), and delivery time, which in my experience has been 7-10 days.
Here are some links to more info, hope it's a viable option!

My mother almost exclusively sends our packages in the flat rate boxes.
It's so very nice to find gifts of sunblock and ibuprofen at my door.
