A good starting point would be Ferrit: TVs

Most older tvs don't work in NZ cos they work on a different 'pal' system or some such thing. whatever its called unless its a multiband one it wont work there.

Harvey Norman are competitively priced at the moment. They have a FullHD 42" LG LCD for $1400. I have it and it is terrific (I paid $1700 for it a few months back), especially in conjunction with our MySkyHDi box.

As mentioned above you may have issues with an old UK tv. In UK they use PAL I and here in NZ its PAL BG. You would get a picture but no sound if it does not support the BG version.

It may be worth bringing if you are shipping a container anyway. You can use a SKY box or DVD recorder for the sound.

Can't remember what we paid, but Harvey Norman are definitely open to negotiation on price, if you pay in cash / EFTPOS.

This is a pretty good little TV:

depends on what you wanna spend, the size you want, and whether you want a plasma or LCD

Why not buy a big CRT on trade me? - dead cheap and NZ houses are so much bigger the extra space won't matter!
