Post Things to bring when making the move!

    Hi,

Since i'll be moving soon, I've been thinking about what I should take with me. I'm looking at everyday items that may not be available easily in NZ or may be a tad difficult to find when you are new there.

I'm putting down a few things that have come to mind.

    ok... here goes -

    1. Spices/ masalas - garam masala, curry powder (for Indian cooking)
    2. Take an extra piece of your favorite lipstick/gloss in case that colour/brand is not available in NZ
    3. A couple of travel adaptors - for charging you mobile or using your hair dryer
    4. clothes (obviously)
    5. Shoes - can be a bit expensive

Please to add to this list! I hope it will be helpful to everyone making the move! I know it sure will help me!!!

Do you mean: to bring over with your luggage? or as part of your belongings/container?

I'm talking about anything. whether you bring it in your container or carry it with you in your luggage. What is it that you were glad you brought along with you?

I agree medicines are a very good idea to carry. But how much can one carry and do you need prescriptions for regular paracetamol or cold and indigestion tablets?

I believe you can bring in spices as long as they are in unopened tins and you declare them!

Please correct me if I'm wrong!!!

Anything else anyone wished they brought with them or is grateful they brought with them?

Books are also very expensive in NZ, so if you can't part with your favorite novel...bring it, too.

If there's something that you love and must have, bring it with you.

We brought our hi-tech foam pillows with us as well as blankets and we're glad we did.

    We're thinking:
    favourite tea bags
    cadbury chocolate

My Costco membership runs out next month so I need to think about what to stock up on before it does (no point renewing it). So I need to check NZ prices of stuff like dishwasher tablets etc.
