    Default Recommended car insurance companies?

    Hey Guys,

Happy New Year to you all!

Can anyone recommend any reputable car insurance companies where I can buy a policy online?? I have no idea what companies are good or not!

    Your help is appreciated!

Another vote for State - the multi-policy discounts are quite good too (we have home/contents etc with them), although at first we used AA insurance which had good cover but was a few $$'s more when it came to renewal...

We have 2 cars with the AA found them to be cheaper than state, you can do a quick online quote with both companies, see which one you prefer. WE have our house and motorbike insurance with state, which again worked out cheaper than AA. My advice would be to shop around.

Best advice is to check the quotes from several different companies and your local bank as they all offer policies and seem to all give discounts if you take out more than one policy e.g. house contents and car etc.

We went with AMI who have been consistently the cheapest for us, and when we had to make a claim they handled everything so well and simply.

They also have plenty of branches around should you need to speak to someone in person, and are also available 24hrs by phone - some of the others aren't.

One thing to watch out for is if you have any NCB to protect as the different companies seem to handle this differently.

We are with AMI, as the kiwi that we bought the car from, advised us that some of the others might be a tad cheaper, but aren't always quick to pay up if you need to claim. We also got discount with them for having house contents and car with them.

Another with the AA, I got quotes from all and the worked out cheapest with AA recovery membership included too. Can't fault their service so far.
