I was told of a lovely spot to collect shells - think it was Waipu- but of course didnt write it down-and now cant remember.
Anyone know of where I can go and collect shells - preferably on NI.
Thanks again

Bucklands Beach is covered in shells (and the creatures that used to live in them).
Not sure if you are supposed to take them away though.
There are lots of shells on most beaches up here on the Coromandel, and yes, you are allowed to take them.
We often pop out at low tide to collect Paua shells which my OH polishes up for use as ornaments.
Kuaotunu beach seems to be the best one up this part of the world.
I was going to say we have lovely shells up here in the Coromandel, but Timbo beat me to it!
I found some absolutly amazing shells on Papamoa Beach just south of Tauranga!
My girls were collecting shells at the beach in Kaikoura and were nicely "scolded" by the motel manager. They decided they wanted to collect sea glass anyway.
IMHO, the most important thing about beaches, shells etc is to remember "take only photographs, leave only footprints".
Seattle...what is sea glass please?
From Wikipedia: Sea glass (also known as beach glass, mermaid's tears, lucky tears, and many other names) is glass found on beaches along oceans or large lakes that has been tumbled and smoothed by the water and sand, creating small pieces of smooth, frosted glass.
Sea glass is one of the very few cases of a valuable item being created from the actions of the environment on man-made litter.
My girls collect it and display it in clear bowls/and or jars. They are especially excited when they find a "unique" color such as pink.
