    Default Sleep Outs

    Hi,

Does anyone know approximate costs to build a smallish 2 bedroomed sleepout with small shower/toilet room and also a kitchen/lounge area?

    Thoughts appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Yogi.

PS. Am factoring it in to our plans as would be useful for additional income and perhaps for visitors from time to time...

have a search through as lots of companies build them, versatile buildings in chch being one. but don't forget to allow money for planning and inspections etc.

We saw a few sleepouts for sale along side the used houses in a couple of the sales yards, maybe it's worth a try having a look at them.

I love those House Sale yards. I think it's surreal that you can point to a house in the middle of a junk yard and say "I'll have that one. Can you deliver it Tuesday?" Beats waiting six months for a new one to be built.

Just a bit of useless info, growing up in NZ we referred to these sort of 'sleep outs' as 'Granny Flats'!!!

Hey Deb ... we call them Granny Flats here in the UK too. They're usually an extension of the house though, not a separate building in the garden.

One of our 'requirements' is a sleepout as I know we'll have alot of vistors. My sister is amazed at the thought that we're going to put her in the 'garden shed' when she comes to stay

I really like the idea of a separate wee house to put guests up in. Especially if my MIL does come and stay for six months as she's threatened (then it really will be a granny flat) .

We definately either want one, or the room to build one at a later stage.

    Hi Yogi,
I'm not IN New Zealand yet, but a search with Google (www.google.com) gave me this link:
    http://www.idealbuildings.co.nz/sleepouts/index.html
I liked this one as well: http://www.skylinegarages.co.nz/gottages.cfm
I typed in NZ builders sleepouts
    Hope this helps you!

    Hannah,

Both those sites really good thanks, but sadly no prices on either of them.

Unless I am having a particularly bad plot-loss morning?

    Cheers,

    Yogi.
