Default Customs duty on stuff you bring in

We are looking for a list of stuff we may have to pay customs duty on arrival eg car, appliances, good SA wine etc

    All links welcome.

    Graham and Denise,
I could well be wrong here (MAF is sooo confusing!) but I thought you only paid duty on items that you owned for less than a year.

How many cases of wine can we get in before the customs boys get excited?

Good wine here in CT appears to be a lot cheaper than NZ.
We are paying the equivalent of around $3-$4 for white and $4-$5 for red (thats for 750 ml bottles) which we buy by the case directly from the wine farms.

if you dont have PR you will have to pay import tax on your car, with some depreciation depending on how long youve had it
