Question Police Checks - how do i get our police checks completed while living in NZ?

    Hi,

Looking for information, i am sure someone can point me in the right direction?

We are working in NZ on a WTR and we are a couple of months away from the 2 year point. At which time we will apply for PR, question, how do i get our police checks completed while living in NZ? is there a web site i can visit to get this sorted....also is it worth using the services of an immigration expert to complete this application or is the process of moving from WTR to PR after 2 years pretty straight forward?

OK assuming you are from the UK.

Go to your UK police force's website. Find the 'Subject Access' or 'Freedom Of Information' link and there will be a downloadable form that you must fill out in person and send by post back, with the fee. It needs to be signed so you have to post.

There is normally nothing complex about the process of applying for PR.

Ok have not done the WTR to PR, just the PR and that was simple enough.

SIL did the WTR -> PR route and she managed herself so must be a piece of p@@s.

Actually the above info is now out of date, you now need the ACPO Police Certificates

    Sorry you are still wrong...

    From the immigration website:-
    Scotland
Police certificates from the Association of Chief Police Officers of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland (ACPO) also cover Scotland. All citizens and residents of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (including those resident in Scotland) should apply through ACPO.

Thought in Scotland you could still apply to your local force.
