    Default tariff on online-shopping

    Does any one try to order clothes on internet and the supplier send the clothes from outside NZ?
    in such case, does custom charge any import tax?

    Yes and no, see Private Importers for details.

    Importing goods will incur charges but if the charges are less than NZ$50 then they are waived.

    From personal experience, it seems to be pot luck. Looking at link I certainly didn't realise the charge on clothing was 26.5%, that's incredibly steep and way above gst.

    I try to search for tariff on book (academic reference book, magazine, comic...etc)

    It does not return any result.
    Do it mean that, there is not any tariff charge if i order book from Amazon(or second hand book from ebay)

    Printed books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter, whether
    or not in single sheets: Rates of Duty = Free
