It's not written in plain english?

What sort of specific comments were you looking for, the chance of jobs, what the abreviations stand for, the names of comapnies that would recreuit in that field.....

The NZ Government have just announced a fibre to the home programme along with more broadband. The licneces will be regional. Once they have been sold expect a lot of activity in this area.

Meanwhile TNZ have a programme of NGN but this is going a little slower than expected.

    Best if you PM me.

The only information I can really give you is in the public domain otherwise I could be in trouble :-(

If you Google TNZ, Voda, 2 Degrees, FX Networks, Telstra Clear in the news items you'll get a picture of what they use, and what the latest developments are.

Like I said the gov. want to improve FTTH so TX networks are going to be 'flavour of the month'. The current status is they are JUST proposed the projects and that it will be regional but as to who the operators will be and which vendor they use...that hasn't been agreed yet.

This is a bit OT but what's your (or general NZ) opinion about the FTTH when the internet access still has things like "data plans" attached to it? What's the point of FTTH when you fill your monthly quota in a nanosecond?

Well to start with the ultra fast broadband and rural broadband projects are government led projects whilst charging for BB data is a network provider issue.

...and anyway strategic planning (otherwise known as wishful thinking) often bears no relation to reality
